Premier Cup Qualifying Matches This Week! Five Superstars Join Sabin & Red at X-Raided!
Winnipeg, Mb - Premier Championship Wrestling this week announced the qualifying matches to determine participants for Premier Cup 2005: X-Raided! The qualifying matches will occure this Thursday night at
Manitoba's home of wrestling, The LID Nightclub!
Five matches are scheduled to take place with the winners moving on to the eight man, one night Premier Cup Tournament on June 2nd 2005! Already seeded in the tourney are two former X-Division Champions 'The
Future' Chris Sabin and The Amazing Red. The winners of this week's five qualifying matches will join Sabin & Red to fill all but one spot in the tournament.
The final wildcard spot will be filled by a Premier Rumble on May 26th, giving all interested parties an equal opportunity to qualify for Canada's most prestigious sports entertainment tournament!
It is important to note that no titles will be on the line during the qualifying matches this week! There will be no defensive posturing, only straight forward, outstanding offensive athleticism as ten deserving superstars battle for the five precious spots!
The qualifying matches are as follows:
Rawskillz vs Cisco Satanico
These two competitors are very familear with each other having recently battled over the PCW Tag Team Championship held by Skillz and 'Vicious' Donny Dicaprio. For that series of matches, Cisco enlisted the help of Kenny Omega and may have learned a few things about his qualifying match opponant as Omega and Skillz were former partners.
Young and exciting, Cisco's most glaring negative might be his daredevil move set and stubborn desire to compete. He has been wrestling with injured ribs for weeks and has never taken a backwards step, refusing to lose an opportunity to be in the Premier Cup! This
weeks match represents the greatest opportunity in Cisco's short career.
Rawskillz has been the most decorated man in PCW history. He's a three-time former Junior Champion, two-time former Tag Team Champion and former Heavyweight Champion. He was victorious just last week in an intense six man elimination tag match, pinning Cisco to win the contest.
This match will simply come down to youthful exuberance versus technical expertise. And don't discount the support Skillz may receive from his Elite Squad co-horts, though they are all in qualifying matches themselves and may be eyeing their own best
interests over that of the team.
Antonio Scorpio Jr vs 'Diehard' Greg Romijn
There may not be a more popular wrestler in Manitoba right now then Greg Romijn. Long considered the heart & soul of PCW, this charismatic brawler has spent the last several weeks defending his friends in different circumstances. He came to the aid of Pete Chee when he was victimized by Moses Luke and accepted the challenge of the big man when he dared suggest PCW wrestlers were not on par with his talent. Last week, he saved long time friend Cisco Satanico from a vicious attack at the hands of the Tag Sciences Faculty.
Recent weeks have proved Romijn is not just a good friend and loyal PCW professional, but a talented wrestler as he has put together an impressive series of victories. While his style may not be closely associated with that of Premier Cup participants Chris Sabin and The Amazing Red, Romijn's heart and desire make him a formidable threat.
Antonio Scorpio Jr has achieved more then most in a short period of time. Trained by the current Heavyweight Champion, Scorpio severed ties with his mentor in violent fashion and sought to cement his own
legacy. Currently the PCW Canadian Champion, Scorpio is no stranger to high profile matches. Aligning himself with the veteran Robby Royce and the Elite Squad in recent weeks can only add to his growing wealth of knowledge as he continues to impress observers with his technical and submission skills.
While posessing great talent, Scorpio is still young and prone to bursts of rage. He has been known to abandon his gameplan and resort to brawling. Romijn may be able to incite the Canadian Champion into
fighting his kind of match. In that case, Romijn, who has to be considered the people's choice, may become the dark horse favourite in the Premier Cup and shock the world!
