X Champ Daniels Confirmed for Beat The Summer Heat!
Two World Champions, One Mega Event!
Winnipeg, Mb – In a stunning turn of events, Premier Championship Wrestling has announced that TNA World X Division Champion ‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels will perform at Beat The Summer Heat on August 4th after all!
Daniels was originally scheduled to headline the event until a scheduling conflict with a Japanese promotion forced his withdrawal. In the interim, AWA World Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino was signed to make an historic title defence in Winnipeg. Now the conflict has been resolved and the man many people consider to be the best wrestler on the planet will defend his championship as well.
PCW Director of Operations Andrew Shallcross was ecstatic at the news.
“It has been many years since a bonafide world championship was defended in an independent promotion in Manitoba,” he said. “This is absolute history in the making to have two world titles up for grabs on one show.”
Christopher Daniels makes his first trip to Manitoba to defend the World X Division title. Securing his appearance was a major coup for PCW as the “Fallen Angel” has an intensely hectic schedule performing all over the world.
Corino, nicknamed the King of Old School, makes his return to Winnipeg for the first time since losing the NWA North American Championship to ‘Showtime’ Robby Royce in 2001. In an interesting twist, for the first time, a guest talent may have the home court advantage as Corino was born in Winnipeg and is thrilled to be coming home to defend the AWA World Championship for the first time in over 15 years!
Confirming both men to appear cements PCW’s status as the Canadian industry leader, Shallcross stated.
“We said this event would be about legacy – the legacy of the AWA and the World Heavyweight Champion. Well you can add diversity and elite performance to that as well. Corino and Daniels are among the very best at what they do and will wow the crowd. This is a huge test for PCW’s crew.”
That test follows June’s Premier Cup: X-Raided event that garnered critical praise as the most outstanding independent event ever held in Manitoba. The PCW Superstars proved they could compete with The Amazing Red and Chris Sabin and will now have the chance to match their performance against two world champions!
Shallcross explained that he was comfortable moving forward with either one of these two great champions as the headliner for Beat The Summer Heat, but pressure from the fans made his pursuit of both a no-brainer.
“The people wanted both men,” he said. “They wanted history to be made. They wanted their expectations surpassed and they wanted to know that their favourite PCW wrestlers could perform on par with any talent on any stage anywhere on the planet. We are thrilled to give them exactly what they have asked for.”
The fourth annual Beat The Summer Heat goes August 4th at the LID Nightclub. Tickets are already on sale and PCW expects to surpass the near-sell-out crowd that witnessed the Premier Cup. Fans are encouraged to get their tickets as soon as possible. At only $10 to see two World Champions, they won’t last long.
“Shows of this magnitude will continue as long as the fans want them and support them.”
Challengers for both Corino’s AWA World Heavyweight Championship and Daniels World X Division Championship have not been released, but Shallcross promised those and other announcements in the near future, possibly as early as tonight’s live event at the LID Nightclub.
Premier Championship Wrestling is Manitoba’s leader in professional sports entertainment, boasting a talented roster that is unsurpassed in Canadian independent wrestling. They can be seen every Thursday night, only at The LID Nightclub!
