PCW Gets Extreme at Beat The Summer Heat!
Elite Compete to Challenge Daniels!
Winnipeg, Mb - Steve Corino is a former World Heavyweight Champion of Extreme Championship Wrestling, but he likely never thought he'd have to utilize those skills for his match in Winnipeg. This past Thursday, PCW announced that the AWA World Heavyweight Championship match at Beat the Summer Heat between Corino and 'Showtime' Robby Royce would be Extreme Rules!
"ECW is a hot topic right now. The fans wanted it so we gave it to them," Director of Operations Andrew Shallcross explained simply. "And with Corino and Royce, Extreme Rules was a natural fit."
That same stipulation was in full effect in April 2001 when Royce defeated Corino for the NWA North American Championship and both men demanded a "must win" scenario for the long-awaited rematch on August 4th at the LID Nightclub.
With no count-out and no disqualification, the match could degenerate into a wild brawl just as their first historic encounter did 4 years ago.
Premier Championship Wrestling's fourth annual Beat The Summer Heat is shaping up to be an incredible event. Featuring two World Champions on one huge show, Corino will be joined by TNA World X Division Champion 'Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels.
There has been a lot of speculation as to who would challenge Daniels, considered by many to be the best wrestler on the planet, for his title at the August 4th supershow. PCW set the stage for a phenomenal contest to determine that challenger with their announcement this past Thursday that four elite PCW superstars would face each other next week in a Fatal Four Way. The only prize on the line - the shot at Christopher Daniels' title.
PCW Heavyweight Champion Mentallo, PCW Canadian Champion Antonio Scorpio Jr, NWA Canadian X Division Champion & Premier Cup Winner Kenny Omega and multi-time champion Rawskillz are the four lucky superstars entered in this incredible match.
It will take place next Thursday, August 21st at the LID Nightclub and if the show-ending brawl between all four men this past week is any indication, the high stakes involved will create a dramatic match of epic proportions.
"Any one of those four guys could get in the ring with Daniels and give him a run for his money and a five-star match," Shallcross explained. "No titles will be on the line in the four way. This match is all about the chance of a lifetime to compete for the World X Division title."
Tickets are on-sale at all PCW live events, via PCW Superstars and by e-mailing PCW at andrewofpcw@gmail.com. Over 300 fans turned out for Premier Cup: X-Raided on June 2nd and PCW expects to match or surpass that number on August 4th so fans are encouraged to get their tickets soon. At only $10 for two World Champions and the PCW Superstars, they will go fast.
Shallcross teased further announcements.
"We set the bar high at the Premier Cup," he said. "But we can beat it. When fans buy a ticket to a PCW supershow, they know they will be entertained from beginning to end and their expectations will be surpassed. No empty hype or broken promises, just the best wrestling entertainment possible."
PCW's Beat The Summer Heat featuring Two World Champions on One Huge Show takes place August 4th 2005 at the LID Nightclub, 2935 Pembina Hwy. For more information please contact andrewofpcw@gmail.com
