Premier Championship Wrestling Presented their fourth annual Beat the Summer Heat this past thursday Night!
Nearly 300 fans turned out to witness two world champions on one great show.
Prior to the action beginning, PCW's announcer Andrew Shallcross lectured senior official Christopher Marxwell about his obvious fast count last week that cost Mentallo the PCW Heavyweight Championship. Shallcross said if he had any power in PCW, he'd fine and suspend him, but since he didn't, the matter was still under review by the office of the Commissioner and would be addressed next week. But Shallcross warned Marxwell that any controversey on this night could result in a punch to the face.
'Diehard' Greg Romijn vs Dark Chee
The night began with a good old fashioned grudge match. After Moses Luke had escorted Chee to the ring, Romijn charged in before his intro was done and attacked Chee. He pounded him from post to post, but Moses made his presence known early and often and the advantage switched to Chee. At one point, the action was so intense, it caused the bottom rope to snap!
Romijn finally managed to hit the Widow's Peak, but Chee somehow kicked out. Romijn followed it up with a top rope elbow for the pin.
Winner: Greg Romijn
Deputy Commissioner Vinko vs David Dixon
The Ukrainian Sex Machine, and former manager of Dixon, staggered to the ring, apparently drunk off a bottle of vodka he was taking liberal sips from. But it turned out to be pyschological warfare as he put up a great fight as a non-wrestler against the 265 lb Dixon.
With Dixon going for his handcuffs, Vinko reached deep into his tights for a bag containing a white powdery substance and threw it in Dixon's eyes. The match continued. Referee Steve H Ross caught a stray elbow to the eye and tumbled out of the ring. During the confusion, Enforcer JP Kaos hit the ring and plastered Dixon with his kendo stick! The fans were stunned and confused and so was Vinko. But he covered Dixon for the victory anyway.
Winner: Vinko
PCW Tag Team Championship Match
Tag Sciences Faculty vs Big Sexy Beasts vs Rawskillz & Darien Karisma
Triple Threat Elimination
An incredible match from beginning to end! Aj Sanchez and Kevy Chevy truly proved they belonged in PCW with their inspired performance and exciting high risk offense. Both men attempted moonsaults, both unsuccessful, that ultimately lead to their elimination.
Rawskillz and the Tag Sciences Faculty were about as well aquainted as three men could be in the business and it showed with a great back and forth match. And with Klassic under the guidence of the most decorated champion in PCW history, the sky appears to be the limit for this team.
Darien Karisma was at ringside, his badely injured shoulder still in a sling, and offered moral support as his partner attempted to capture their dream. And they did.
Rawskillz finally pinned Chad Tatum to a huge ovation from the fans to win the tag team titles for his team. That is Skillz' third PCW tag team titles with three different partners.
Winners: Rawskillz & Chris Klassic
Andrew Shallcross thanked the fans for their continued support and reminded them that PCW was now 11 for 11 in presenting promised headlining talent, which led him to introduce Winnipeg's own, AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Steve Corino!
...But 'Showtime' Robby Royce came out instead. Sporting the ICW, TRCW and PCW Heavyweight Championships, he said he was the only man to unite the local business by holding the only belts that ever meant anything here. And he was going to add the one World title that meant the most to Manitoba - the AWA World Heavyweight Championship.
Royce said that Shallcross and PCW made the same mistake that Ernie Todd and the CWF did four years ago - brought in Steve Corino as champion to face him in an Extreme Rules match! Royce reminded everyone that he had pinned Corino four years ago and would do it again on this night.
NWA Canadian X Division Championship
Kenny Omega vs Nate Hardy
The drama of this match was matched by the political controversey surrounding it outside the ring. Prior to the match, Shallcross revealed that the NWA Board of Directors had attempted to stop him from using the NWA name or the NWA Canadian X Division Championship. He said he was told by Ernie Todd and the NWA that he could not say NWA or use NWA. But that he invited the NWA to come down to the LID, walk through 300 people and stop him from using the NWA.
He also said Ernie Todd's announcement that he does not endorse PCW was a big relief.
Nate Hardy received a strong reaction from the fans as the young high flyer and former rookie of the year finalist was stepping into the ring for the biggest match of his career!
And what a match it was. Omega was clearly content with using his size and strength advantage and trying to show that Nate did not hold a speed or agility advantage. The kid may have had a heart advantage as he battled passionately to refuse to lose to his former mentor.
The match was wrestled above the ring as much as it was wrestled in the ring as Nate flew all over the place, utilizing his high risk offense. At one point, Kenny set Nate up on the top turnbuckle, both men standing upright, but Nate reversed it into a shocking top rope DDT, driving Kenny's head straight down into the mat. The champion hit the mat and bounced straight up into the air and landed several feet away. How he escaped without a broken neck is the biggest question.
As the match continued, Kenny wore the young Nate Hardy down, and following a series of impressive suplexes, was able to score the pin.
Winner: Kenny Omega
Post Match, Kenny ripped into Christopher Daniels calling him a paper champion who had never done anything, and if he had, kenny did not know about it. He accused Daniels of coming into his house looking for the rub, but it wasn't going to happen.
Following intermission,
Moses Luke vs Kory Kinkade
Kinkade received a very warm reception from the fans as he was facing a lot of pressure. Given one more chance to earn his job in PCW, he had to defeat the 400+lb Moses Luke or leave wrestling forever.
Before the match began, Kinkade thanked the fans for supporting him and promised to try to deliver a match they deserved.
It seemed like it was going downhill early for Kinkade as Moses smothered and dominated the former 'Ringmaster'. After a crazy Alabama Jam from the massive Moses, it was surely over, but the arrogent Luke pretended to have been shoved off the cover and continued to pound away on Kinkade and jaw with ringside fans.
At one point, a fan - a former wrestler by the name of P'lo, began argueing with Moses to the point he jumped up on the apron. As Shallcross and the ref went to grab him, Moses tried to hit him, allowing Kinkade to roll him up from behind and get the victory.
Winner: Kory Kinkade
Post Match, the 'fan' grabbed the mic and got into the ring. He confronted Kinkade and made some very inappropriate comments:
"You disgust me Kinkade. You disgust me. You disgust me because you are a disgrace to your RACE! Everyone of these white racist pigs out here knows that in this business, if you're black, you're on your back!" The crowd erupted into shocked boos as the 'fan' continued.
"Next week, I will take a symbol of this racist country, the Canadian Flag, and I will burn it in this ring." He told Kinkade he had to choose if he was with him or against him. "I will answer to only one nation, the Panther Nation. And all these racist pigs will learn that the black man is God!"
Before he could go any further, Shallcross and venue security ejected him from the building. Shallcross assured the crowd that there would be no flag burning next week.
TNA X Division Championship of the World
"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs Mentallo
The former PCW Heavyweight Champion was stepping onto the biggest stage of his career for the match of his career against the best wrestler on the planet. Mentallo's golden opportunity awaited and the fans showered him with a huge ovation as he made his way to the ring.
When the Fallen Angel came through the curtain, the fans erupted for him also. He opened his robe to reveal the beautiful X Division World Championship belt and motioned it towards his challenger as Mentallo quietly nodded, never taking his gaze off the champ.
As the bell rang, deuling chants of 'Daniels, Daniels' and 'Mentallo, Mentallo' rang out from the crowd. They started off with a feeling out process, charging into a lock-up and looking for a quick advantage, with neither man receiving one. After several of these charging attempts, they both backed off, unable to get the edge.
As Mentallo took the arm, Daniels spun off the ropes and tossed his challenger to the mat. Not intimidated by the champion, Mentallo met him with a hip toss and both men again backed off after this feeling out process.
The match settled into an incredible display of pure wrestling befor spilling to the floor. With Daniels down, Mentallo nailed a beautiful springboard moonsault from the second rope onto Daniels on the floor!
Back in the ring, the young challenger showed he was full of confidence by hanging Daniels by his right leg in the corner and giving him the patented Mentallo groin stomp! He followed it up with a dropkick to the knee that left Daniels laying in a heap on the mat.
But the Fallen Angel came back, showing his championship calibre abilities.
Finally, after a back and forth contest, Daniels nailed his Angel Wings finisher for the victory.
Winner: Christopher Daniels
Post Match, Daniels applauded Mentallo, but was suddenly attacked from behind by Kenny Omega! Omega grabbed Daniels' X Division belt and nailed him in the gut and back with it, sending the champ to the mat, writhing in pain. Omega then cut a very disrespectful promo saying all Daniels ever did in the business was lose to Aj Styles and if that is what it took to make it, he could lose to AJ Styles too!
Omega told Daniels to leave the 'house that Kenny built' because he was the only 'name' the fans came to see anyway. He asked if Daniels had ever beat Chris Sabin and the Amazing Red in one night? He said as far as X Division talent goes, there is only one best in the world and that was Kenny Omega! As a result, Kenny told Daniels he could have his sh!tty NWA Canadian X Division belt because he was taking Daniels' TNA World X Division belt since he was the best on the planet!
Kenny then put Daniels' belt around his waste, kicked him some more and scurried from the ring as Mentallo recovered to save Daniels a further beating.
PCW Canadian Championship Match
Antonio Scorpio Jr vs Mystery Opponant
There had been a lot of speculation as to who would take up Scorpio's challenge. Since the champ had been saying for weeks he had no competition, Deputy Commissioner Vinko ordered this match and told Scorpio he would face anyone who wanted to sign the contract.
And that man was non other then former PCW Superstar Jon Cutler!
Cutler recieved a great ovation from the fans and the match was on. Cutler appeared to have been training to increase strength and match size with Scorpio, which frustrated the champion repeatedly.
Both men attempted to hit their finishers, but were countered. When Cutler when for his again, the savvy champ, countered into a roll-up for the pin!
Winner: Antonio Scorpio Jr
Post match, Cutler attacked Scorpio and spit on his belt.
Mixed Martial Arts Exhibition
Donny Dicaprio vs Damon Marx
Your judged were Commissioner Tom Manos, Referee Steve H Ross and 'The Mecca' Shane Madison!
Your in-ring official was 'Broadway' Dave Levinski
Your outside official was Christopher Marxwell
Damon Marx was accompanied to the ring by his corner men Donny Douglas and TJ Brooks.
Dicaprio's corner men were Hall of Famer Chris Parys and Kenny Omega, who was still wearing the World X Division Championship belt.
Round One
Marx came out looking for the knock out, but it was clear Dicaprio's strategy was to take him to the mat. But he was having difficulty throwing his much larger opponant and Marx managed to get Dicaprio down in a prone position and sit out on him.
Marx threw several punches, one that connected hard with Dicaprio's head, but Dicaprio managed to gaurd against most of them. Dicaprio tried to reverse the position and appeared to be going for an arm bar several times.
Finally, both men broke the hold and returned to a standing position. Again, Dicaprio attempted to throw Marx, and appeared to be successful, but Marx ended up on top of Dicaprio and tried to choke him from behind.
As the opening round was coming to a close, both men unleashed a flurry of punches before the bell rang.
Both men returned to their corners.
Round Two
Dicaprio and Marx stayed on their feet for the opening seconds, and Dicaprio threw some kicks to the lower body of his opponant. As Marx charged in off the ropes with his head down, Dicaprio caught him with a knee to the head and they went down.
Marx again used his superior weight advantage to end up on top, but Dicaprio reversed and rolled over on Marx. Marx fought out of it, but Dicaprio rolled onto his back with Damon on his back on top of him. Dicaprio secured an arm bar that appeared to pop the arm of Marx and caused referee Levinki to immediately jump in with the stoppage!
Winner: Donny Dicaprio
There was a lot of speculation regarding the 'exhibition' status of this fight. Those in attendance know the truth and both men put it all on the line for the people. A rematch has been discussed.
AWA World Heavyweight Championship
'King of Old-school' Steve Corino vs 'Showtime' Robby Royce
Extreme Rules
Royce was clearly not the fan favourite as he headed to the ring with his three championship belts.
When Corino was introduced, the Winnipeg-born superstar received a huge ovation!
He took the mic and said he was thrilled to be back in Winnipeg and needed to come back more often because there were hot ladies in the crowd. He said he had been looking forward to this rematch for four years ever since the bonehead promoter of the first match dropped the ball.
He told the fans if they did not like violence and carnage, they should leave now because he intended to beat Royce's ass all over the venue!
They started out with a Royce go-behind into a waist lock and a suplex. Corino got up and supleced Royce out of a side headlock.
Royce was plastered with a steel chair and began gushing blood as the match spilled to the floor. As Royce staggered around ringside, Corino grabbed a table and set it up on the floor and then layed Royce across it. He jumped from the ring arpon and splashed Royce, but the table would not break. Another attempt would not break the table, so the champ leaned it against a ring post and threw Royce into it.
Royce smashed through the table, wood and blood flying everywhere!
Back in the ring, Royce regained the advantage and drove Corino's head into a steal chair off a piledriver! Corino came up spewing blood. It literally covered his face and turned his blond hair a sick crimson colour.
Royce pounded on Corino, who began yelling for more and absorbed the right hands. Every shot Corino took, would send a splatter of blood flying out of the ring. He dumped Royce to the floor and they fought around the bar.
Back in and Royce grabbed another table and set Corino upon it. He climbed the top turnbuckle and yelled that it was showtime before leaping with a splash. The table did not break and both men collapsed to the mat in pain. They staggered to their feet. As Royce set up the table again and climbed the turnbuckle, Corino cut him off and tossed him from the top, through the table.
As Royce tried to fight back, he nailed referee Steve H Ross with a flying forearm. Corino hit Royce and covered him, but there was no ref. Suddenly, Kenny Omega hit the ring! He grabbed Corino from behind and held him for Royce. But Corino ducked and Royce struck Kenny.
Corino covered again, but the ref was still down. As Corino ran off the ropes, Kenny nailed him in the head with a steel chair!!
Royce covered as referee Marxwell ran in and tried an obviously fast count. But Corino just barely managed to kick out at three!
Royce set up a third table against the ropes and Kenny climbed into the ring with the X Division belt and was about to hit Corino when Christopher Daniels ran in and cut him off! He nailed Kenny with a huge clothesline, sending them both sprawling over the top rope to the floor.
Royce hit his finisher on Corino and covered as Marxwell went for the count again, only to have Mentallo pull him out and drop him with a right hand. Irate, Royce grabbed Mentallo, but Mentallo spewed a red mist into his face. Royce staggered into Corino who nailed a perfect Northern Lights Bomb through the table for the pin!
Winner: Steve Corino
Post match, Kenny slid back into the ring, but Daniels continued after him. They traded punches until Daniels dumped him to the floor. The Fallen Angel grabbed the mic and challenged Kenny to get in the ring 'right here, right now'! The fans erupted, but Kenny begged off.
Daniels said that tonight, he wrestled a great competitor in Mentallo, unlike Kenny, who was getting a loud 'pu**y, pu**y' chant from the audience.
Kenny responded that the fans did not deserve two Kenny Omega matches in one night, but he would face Daniels if he came back.
Daniels replied that he would come back to PCW and defend his World X Division championship against Omega anytime and demanded that PCW book that match!
Finally, Daniels thanked the fans and the wrestlers and he and Corino and Mentallo celebrated together to end the show!
Thank you to the nearly 300 fans who turned out for this great show!
PCW once again proved they are the industry leaders in this market and produced another world-class event. We look forward to every Thursday Night at the LID and our next huge supershow!

Thank you to the nearly 300 fans who turned out for this great show!
PCW once again proved they are the industry leaders in this market and produced another world-class event. We look forward to every Thursday Night at the LID and our next huge supershow!
