On a side note, how many buys do you think they will get? TNA did an estimated 30,000-35,000 buys for Victory Road. With all the cut backs and cost cutting the company needs 62,000 buys just to break even. I think that is a number that will be impossible hit given their sh!tty television exposure and visibility. Internally, TNA is predicting 50,000 buys which is a number they feel they can hit given that they hyped that they will be showing that WWE footage. I think the number of buys will be down from Victory Road and that is a bad thing; especially when this company totally depends on PPV buys for revenue. Thoughts?

It's hard to say. How many buys did ECW get for Barely Legal? They went down for each PPV following, did they not?
TNA has had more hype for this PPV then the last, what with the well rated Best d**n Sports Show segments. The hype of Randy Savage returning is better then Jeff Hardy working the ladder match. And finally seeing Hall and Nash work is somewhat curious.
The angle they did on the Impact show this week was very WCW like, which is not terrible - it was a cliffhanger ending. Cheesy, but at least they make me somewhat curious as to where they go. Keep in mind all the WWE cuts.
I think TNA should try to be as smarky and shoot-ish as possible and draw in the really smart fans who loved the Monday Night Wars for all their shoot comments and 'winking' at the work of the business. I want to see them talk about WWE and call them out and tell us that the work in TNA is better and the angles are less predictable (which was the case at the last TNA PPV).
I want to see this PPV more then the last one. Smarks will want to see the changes Dusty makes and a reportedly, rejuvenated Jarrett working great matches.

Im getting it.....anything is better than WWE right now. Besides some of those X division guys are amazing to watch.

Well after watching the ppv tonite, I must say...it didnt suck. Certainly some things could have been better but overall I didnt mind it. The 2 best matches were Sabin vs Williams and AMW vs Triple X...some of the things in those matches were unreal. But The much hyped 6 man with Savage and the boys was pure S-H-I-T . Savage should have saved some of his money for hairclub for men or something....he looks that bad.

I think TNA showed sings of the old WCW - an undercard that rocked, but the top angles fizzled.
Johnny Devine returns to help Team Canada win the tag titles. Rumours abounded that Teddy Hart would have that slot. Good move putting the straps back on TC. D'Amour is funny as hell. Road Dog is just not funny any more.
The fake Vince and HHH were funny and I dig the shots at WWE. WWE cannot pretend to take the high road because they did it when they were being killed by WCW, just like WCW did it when they were chasing WWE. However, if you want to take shots at the competition, you'd better make sure you deliver on your show.
Six Man was good, but I don't really identify with these characters yet. When did Sonny Siaki become a face? Keep him heel and give him a push. He is a star.
Scott Hudson is goofy. Stop putting on a tought guy act for the camera.
Monty Brown vs Abyss was decent, but they should have gone farther with the hardcore. And he missed the thumbtacks on the finish. Brown is a good character, though.
Does anyone care about Pat Kenney and Johnny B Badd? And with Jackie as the ref, how did they not make mention of her past 'relationship' with Mero? I sort of thought Kenney would turn and join the NYC since he is The Empire Saint. Oh well...
The bit with Savage being kidnapped is a good example of why backstage vignettes should be pre-taped. Without the benefit of the announcers telling us Savage was kidnapped, you'd never know. And that angle was silly and insulting.
DDP/Raven was great. They have something in DDP and I hope he finishes off the feud with Raven and gets moved up. He looked great and worked great and is over like mad. Keep Erik Watts out, though. He should not look to be on the same level of DDP or even Raven.
X Division match was pure gold. Nice to see them given lots of time and they were so good. very entertaining. I liked the finish with the knucks after all the highspots - it was a good twist and added some character to the X Division guys.
The midget beating fake Vince was stupid. Maybe they should have signed Nailz to choke him out. That would have at least been funny.
6 man. Well, what a let down. First, on your second PPV, you should not be doing the bait and switch. They promoted this PPV as Savage's return and he appeared for all of 5 seconds. Terrible. The match itself was not bad. Jarrett worked hard, as did Styles. Hardy was okay even though he is 100lbs.
I bet Scott Hall could still go if he wanted to. He clearly doesn't and worked very lazy. Nash was Nash and that was fine. He was funny. He took 4 bumps, so he's getting about $1000/bump - good gig. I dug the Elvis outfits actually. Very cool. But it's almost as if they are making fun of themselves or winking at the fans and saying 'can you believe we're doing this sh!t?'
Savage looks to be about 100 years old. He can still throw his punches, but the sleeper was weak, the reverse was weak and that pin was terrible. What a let down. if they want to run Savage/Jarrett, either Savage better get in some workout time or Jarrett will need to have the greatest match of his career to carry Savage.
They went right from that match to the final Vince segment. And I was mad because, like i said, if you want to poke fun at the competition, you better deliver yourself.
And now the infamous footage. TNA is gutless for what they did. How dare they have that idiot Shane Douglas go out in the pre show and tell Vince 'we want to see you in court so go ahead and sue us because we're shoing the footage' and then show nothing. Blurring everyone out was brutal and was so anti-climatic. Why the WWE is even selling this, is beyond me.
Six Sides of Steal was the best way to end the show. It totaly got me back into the PPV and was a fantastic match. Great work.
TNA would be smarter to save the money the yare spending on Savage and sign three or four of the WWE midcarders that have been released. They have some name value and can at least work. I don;t mind Hall and Nash so much, but Hall is lazy and both seem very unmotivated. They better be doing some jobs for the young guys or their involvment is a waste.
I'd say this was a step back for TNA, but really shows their strengths and weaknesses. Their work is strong. Their attempt to out WWE the WWE is weak. I think they need better, more dramatic and edgy angles, but at least the work is good. I'm not so sure I will buy the next one...

This company is dead in the water. This PPV was better than any WWE PPV recently but still. If I was a fan who bought the PPV for Hall and Nash I would ask for a refund. It is obvious they don't take the product seriously. Hector Garza was wearing Triple H's tights. Savage looked HORRIBLE. He can hardly be called the Macho Man anymore with the hairline like that. The X-Division match was OK except for the finish when they used the "indy-knux". At least use real brass knux for God's sakes! If this is the best TNA can do they won't make it to the next PPV on January 16th. Thank God for American satellite.

Hector wears those HHH tights in Mexico too. Garza is the man.

I thought the knucks looked silly too, but I liked that finish. It was not very 'X Division-like'. I think this is not a great indication of Dusty's booking.
And like I said, trading in Savage and the Outsiders for Billy Gunn, A-Train, Rikishi, Gail Kim etc would be a better investment.

Best line of the PPV:
Fake HHH to fake Vince: I didn't find the tape, but I found a gym.
Hilarious.

If TNA re-books those old guys again it will be a huge mistake. That is the mistake WCW made before. They have a good group of young guys who have now been exposed to a larger audience because of the curiosity of seeing guys like Hall, Nash and Savage. I was impressed with the other talent but I think Dusty's days as booker may be numbered. The Triple H-Vince thing was funny too.
On a side note, Danny Duggan called me from Orlando today. He was backstage for the PPV and was booked to get chokeslammed by Erik Watts until they had to drive Chino Martinez back to the airport. When he got back all those "druid" spots were filled up. He will be at the iMPACT! tapings on Tuesday to work out with the guys though. Good for you Duggan!

But isn't he under 18? You cannot be a worker if you're under 18...according to some people.
