It's not about the Jets leaving. It's about them returning. Considering the amount of mainstream press it has received, the movement is legit. Bettman himself talked about the Jets returning recently.
When the Jet's left, Winnipeg was a stronger market them several current southern US NHL teams. We have one ofthe finest arena's in North America now.
The Jet's are coming back.

Someone in the South will have to move their team after this labour stoppage ends, and Winnipeg is the best place to move it right now. Hopefully for us the tickets will be affordable.

Nashville, Atlanta and Florida seem to be the most likely. Carolina too, but no one wants Karmanos as owner up here.
A lot of people don't want Chipman either, but he owns the building and positioned himself to own the next NHL team.
There is no way they bullt MTS Centre for the Moose. They were thinking NHL all the way. Then again, Hamilton thought the same thing when they built Copps Colliseum. D'oh

I think we will get an NHL franchise one day but the NHL will be a lot different than it is in its current economic state.
