That was so dirty & hot, Grey. Glad you enjoyed it, though! Constantine at cheap seats, however, was...odd.

Screw all you North America people who can watch it now. I have to wait until July for the Japanese release. Screw all y'all.
(Yes, I could get it off the net, but who wants to watch a sh!tty handcammed version of Star Wars?)

Star Wars III is a good movie. Not a great movie. It IS a great Star Wars movie because the first two were lacking considerably. I wish Lucas had started with AOTC so we had another movie to look forward to after this. Episodes I & II were just awkward exposition to set up III which is the real prequel film.
Palpatine was head and shoulders above everyone else without a doubt. He truly deserves an award for his performance. Some people criticised him as too over-the-top when he becomes disfigured, but I think he played pure evil expertly. Everytime he appeared on screen, I instantly perked up. Absolutely fantastic. It was almost as if his lines were even written better or perhaps it was just that he is so talented he made every line sound incredible.
How many awesome quotes came from Palpatine?
"Do what must be done!"
"...my little green friend"
"Lord Vader, Riiiiiise..."
"Not from a Jedi"
And many more...
Hayden was much better in this flim, though I thought his turn came too quickly. Suddenly he was pledging life long servitude to Palpatine... But the way Hayden played it, it was reluctant, as if he was too scared and selfish and gutless to accept blame for killing Mace. Aligning with Palps and wiping out the Jedi was easier for him then admitting he was wrong.
I question why any character would think there was good in Vader. Even in AOTC, he told Padme that he did not feel like a Jedi and wanted more. His love for Padme did not turn him - he always had a quest for power and the anger & hate to feed that desire. He was self centred and thought he was better then everyone even when he was a kid - remember the pod race? Or the stink-eye he gave Mace in TPM? Vader was evil from the beginning and it's clear that his sole reason for existing was to be a Sith. Palps even suggested that he created Ani and I believe him. It makes sense.
I actually buy less into the apparent turn of Vader in ROTJ. Luke simply gave him the support he needed to dump Palps. He was too chickensh!t to ever do it himself. Yeah, maybe the loss of Luke would have been too much for him to bear, but I have a feeling that had Vader survived, he would have done something self-destructive eventually. It was just in his nature.
Yoda kicked all kinds of ass in this flick. And I appreciate Lucas' willingness to show even Yoda had faults. He was very arrogent, even as he chastised Ani for being too arrogent and sure of himself in AOTC, Yoda did not see his own arrogence. But it was a cool, bad-ass arrogence. Yet, you could see the realisation of this when he escaped Palps clutches and slumped into Bail's speeder, announcing that he had to go into exile for failing. I think he could have taken Palps, and I think Palps realised that too...
The people who thought Mace really had him beat...I call bullsh!t. Palps knew everything... in the Ani/Dooku dual, he ordered Ani to kill Dooku saying he was 'too dangerous to be kept alive'. Mace said the same thing about Palps to Ani. Palps was testing Ani's loyalty, giving him every reason not to turn, and yet he turned anyway. Brilliant... But yeah, Palps was acting...he could have had Mace anytime he wanted, though I think he was somewhat surprised by Mace's abilities.
The birth of the twins was too quick and seemed unimportant as a result... Her naming of them seemed out of place and pointless. There was some suggestion prior to the movie coming out that Padme was only carrying Leia until birth and the force (or Qui-Gon) created Luke. With the technology that existed, it's hard to believe no one knew she was having twins...
A lot of scenes were cut out and I bet the DVD will be ten times better if they are all included, especially the Qui-Gon scenes...
