PCW presented One Knight to Remember, this past Thursday at the LID Nightclub! Over 150 people turned out to witness this event live up to it's name!
The show began with announcer Shallcross introducing the fastest rising female star on the independent scene, Sarah Stock! The crowd erupted for Sarah who made her successful PCW return just the week before with a submission victory over the mysterious Dr X.
As the crowd cheered, Sarah revealed that she was leaving Winnipeg to return to Mexico the following day…and that she could not wait to get out of town and away from these fans. The people’s cheers turned to boos instantly as Sarah continued to berate the fans. She said she was onto bigger and better things and was too good for Winnipeg.
‘Showtime’ Robby Royce cut her off, hitting the ring to a huge ovation. He told her that beating a hand picked masked jabronie was one thing but if she thought she was too good for PCW, then why not step into the ring for a real education against ‘Showtime’. Sarah was unconvinced, but Royce suggested that the winner of the match be allowed to pick their own entry spot in the WildCard Rumble, scheduled for later in the show. Sarah agreed.
‘Showtime’ Robby Royce vs Sarah Stock
Royce’s obvious strength and size advantage allowed him to take early control in the match. However, Sarah’s undeniable skill made her a formidable opponent and her underhanded methods allowed her to go on the offensive.
In the end, the experienced Royce won the match by pinfall.
Winner: Royce
Following the match, Shallcross asked Royce what number he was choosing for the Rumble. He refused to answer, saying only ‘you’ll all find out soon enough’.
PCW Canadian Championship
JP Kaos Defends against ‘Diehard’ Greg Romijn
Romijn was clearly the people’s choice to win this match in Kaos’ first title defense since upsetting Mentallo two weeks earlier. Almost immediately, Barely Legal (Darien Karisma & Chris Klassic) came to ringside to observe. It was unclear, at first, if they were there because of their recent problems with Romijn or because they desired a shot at the Canadian Championship.
It soon became obvious what their intentions were. With Kaos in control, he tossed Romijn from the ring and conferenced with referee Steve H. Ross, giving Barely Legal an opportunity to viciously attack Greg Romijn. They rolled him back into the ring and Kaos continued to hold the advantage, but was unable to put his challenger away.
When Romijn began to rally, Barely Legal tried to interfere again, drawing the attention of the referee. Out of nowhere, dismissed former referee Jean-Marc Lemark hit the ring and laid Romijn out with a vicious kendo stick shot to the head. Kaos easily scored the pin at that point.
Winner: JP Kaos
Two time Former PCW Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega interrupted the show. He demanded his former friend and tag team partner Rawskillz come to the ring and wrestle him immediately. Rather then Skillz, Omega was met by ‘Broadway’ Dave Levinski, the agent for Skillz.
‘Broadway’ Dave informed Kenny that if he had his chance to wrestle Skillz the previous week when they met in the Quest of the Best tournament final, but his man Mr Skillz was victorious. Levinski revealed that Rawskillz had entered himself into the WildCard Rumble because if he won, he’d become the automatic number one contender and would be able to forgo the Best of Seven series. Therefore, if Omega wanted to meet Skillz again, he’d have to do it in the Rumble. Levinski ended by saying, if Skillz did not win the Rumble, the next best outcome was for him to ensure that Omega did not win the Rumble!
Darren ‘The Bomb’ Dalton vs Mentallo
Guest Referee: ‘The World’s Tallest Midget’ Mike Hammer
This was thought to be the culmination of a several week feud between these two men as Dalton stalked and assaulted Mentallo at every turn, making the fan favorite the object of his bitter resentment.
However, it ended up being just another chapter in Dalton’s wild course of violence. He targeted Mentallo because he was one of the favorite performers of the fans and considered by many experts to be the finest wrestler in Canada.
This match had an added surprise as Mike Hammer was appointed guest ref. One week previous, he had come to the aid of his friend and trainer Mentallo after one of Dalton’s trademark attacks. ‘The Bomb’ spared no one, assaulted Hammer as well. The question this week was, would Hammer be impartial.
He appeared to be at the outset, but the match was short lived. Dalton was frustrated by Mentallo’s ability to outwrestle him. When he gained the advantage, Dalton punished his opponent, but could not keep him down for a three count. He repeatedly argued with Hammer about the speed of his counts before finally kicking Hammer in the face.
Winner: Mentallo by Disqualification
Following the match, Dalton continued to attack Mentallo, concentrating his efforts on the injured left arm. He grabbed the mic and complained about constantly being DQ’d and challenged Mentallo to a no DQ, no countout match for the following week.
PCW Heavyweight Champion ‘Outlaw’ Adam Knight Celebration
On April 8th 2004, Adam Knight defeated three men en route to his first PCW Heavyweight Championship! Since that time, he has met and defeated all challengers to his title. Since defeating ‘Showtime’ Robby Royce in an historic Iron Man match, Knight declared that there were no other contenders and announced that he would pay tribute to himself at One Knight to Remember.
The champ was in all his arrogant glory claiming to be the most dominant champion in PCW history. He also claimed that his 217 days as champion represented the longest reign in history.
At that point, former PCW Creative Director Michael Davidson hit the ring. He informed Knight that he is a great champion, perhaps the greatest of all time. But he also pointed out that Knight was incorrect about two things – his dominance and record setting length of time as champion.
While 217 days was a long time to be champ, according to Davidson there was one man who held the title longer. And that man was also a person that Knight could never beat, a man that was never defeated for the PCW Heavyweight championship in the ring – Chi Chi Cruz!
The former Heavyweight Champion and first ever PCW Champion, Chi Chi Cruz hit the ring to a loud ovation! He scoffed at Knight’s claims of being the most dominant champion ever comparing the champ’s nine years in the business to his 19 years! Cheech said he was driving Jerry Lawlers’s Cadillac before Knight was even considering a career in wrestling!
And he said, at 231 days, he was the longest running champion in PCW history and no one beat him for the title. Cheech reminded Knight that every time they wrestled each other, Cheech was victorious, citing the bloody and violent chain match from Beat The Summer Heat 2003 as an example.
Cheech told Knight that he had to beat him if wanted to make any bold claims. A stunned Knight accepted the challenger.
